Lisa Wheeler,
Group Exercise/ Dance & Master Trainer SmartBells

Lisa Wheeler is a fitness and dance consultant based in NYC (www.lisawheeler.com) who has been involved with SmartBells working with Thinkfit to create the class and instructor’s manual for "Revolution with SmartBells" for Crunch Fitness, and then Club Med. This class was awarded "Best of NY" in NY Magazine. She has been featured in 7 SmartBells instructional DVD's for Thinkfit.

She has a BA in Dance and Theater and has been performing professionally for over fifteen years with several internationally renowned modern dance companies and currently with Ben Munisteri Dance Projects where she serves as Associate Artistic Director. Focusing her studies on anatomy, kinesiology and physiology, she easily segued into a second career in fitness, acquiring key industry certifications including NASM (CPT and CGT), ACSM, ACE, AFAA and the Physical Mind Institute (Pilates). Lisa quickly became a top instructor and personal trainer in the New York area and continues to present workshops and master classes around the world.

Lisa is Global Master Trainer, and Program Design Consultant for a Reebok University, Body Bar, SmartBells Systems and Sports City University in Mexico. She also presents for Bosu and Gliding. Lisa is the choreographer and lead of the top selling Bikini Body Camp, Bikini Body Cardio, Bikini Body Toning and Shape Your Butt, Hips and Thighs DVDs as well as three Method Series videos, Step Up To Dance, Dynamic Cardio and Dance To Fitness that focus on Pilates, yoga and dance. She is featured in over 15 others including several Reebok videos and interactive CD ROMs. Utilizing her talents behind the camera, Lisa serves as Assistant Director and Choreographer for Cal Pozo’s Fit Vid Productions whose clients include Denise Austin, David Kirsch, Jennifer Kries, as well as the hit TV series for NBC, The Biggest Loser and ABC/BBC Dancing With the Stars. Gaiam recently brought her on as choreographer for The Firm.

In addition to her video projects, Lisa is one of the four hosts of The Method Show that can be seen on Exercise TV and was featured on the original FiT TV leading and participating in the Reebok Versa Training Workout and Reebok Dance Party. She also appears on the NFL Channel and their web site hosting several “fit tip” programs with various NFL star players. Lisa has made numerous appearances on CNN Headline News representing Shape Magazine and is regularly featured on QVC. As part of Westin Hotels SPG TV, Lisa host the Westin Workout Powered by Reebok segments and gives tips on healthy traveling. She has worked as a fitness consultant for many other television programs such as ABC’s The View, Good Morning America and Eyewitness News, NBC’s Weekend Today Show, CNN’s Connie Chung Tonight, WB’s The WB 11 Morning News, TNN’s Crook and Chase, ESPN 2’s Finish Line, Lifetime’s Our Home, Fox’s Good Day New York, Fox on Health and Fox and Friends. Shape Magazine has featured Lisa’s workouts in several issues and serves as a Media Spokesperson as well as Contributing Fitness Editor. Her workouts focusing on yoga, Pilates, core conditioning and strength training have also appeared in Allure, Cosmopolitan, FIT, Fitness, Hers, Jump, Mademoiselle, Natural Living Today, New York Daily News, The New York Post, The New York Times, Self, Teen and US World and News Report.

In addition, Lisa is the author of the  “Flying Pilates” exercise card developed for Crunch Fitness and Jet Blue Airlines that can be found in the seat pocket in all Jet Blue’s aircraft.  She was Captain of the Reebok Performance Team NY for over five years and in 1996, she helped form EXCEL Dance & Fitness, a company devoted to bridging the gap between dance and fitness through performances and master classes. As part of EXCEL, Lisa started YouthDance, an after school program for the New Vision Schools in New York City. In 1999, Lisa and fellow fitness spokespersons Petra Kolber and Hajna Moss Fishburne helped develop the fitness and teacher training programs at Urban Horizons, a housing project in the South Bronx.

The East Coast Alliance awarded Lisa the Best Female Presenter for 2007 as well as Best Original Class for 2003. Columbia College, Lisa’s Alma Mater presented her with the coveted Career Achievement Award for her work in dance and fitness.
